Chamberlain senior Max del Monte capped off a stellar cross country career by placing 19th at the Foot Locker South regional in 15:22.00. Olympia's Emily Headley continued a strong freshman campaign with a new personal best by 15 seconds at Foot Locker South placing 35th in 18:10.00.

Coral Reef freshman Kurt Convey has a breakout race winning his first regional championship in 16:12.45. Mount Dora junior Ashley Heitling came into her regional championship feeling under appreciated and came out with a time of 18:31.55 and the individual title.

Nease senior Mac Reynolds set a course record for the second consecutive week this time at the 3A District 7 meet where he won in 15:44.97. Belleview senior Anne-Marie Blaney is peaking again at the right time running a new personal best 17:39.10 on a fast McKethan Lake course in Brooksville to win the 3A District 6 championship.

Lyman senior Brian Anderson won his first 5K ever at the Seminole Athletic Conference Championships. His time of 16:02.52 was a new person best nearly six seconds better than his previous PR. Cocoa Beach senior Shelby Davidson continues to put up great performances. She won her second consecutive Cape Coast Conference Championship beating out Melbourne's Vanessa Valentine by over sixteen seconds in a time of 17:38.62.

Warrior of the Week: Iglesias, Chastain Todd Grasley Oct 25, 2011

Pembroke Pines Charter sophomore Andrew Iglesias is making a name for himself in South Florida. Iglesias ran a person best time of 15:39.79 to finish tenth in the boys elite race at the Pre-State Invitational and follows it up with his second sub 16 minute performance and a win at the BCAA Championship. Fort Walton Beach junior Ivy Chastain has quickly emerged as one of the top runners in the Panhandle after placing fourth at the Panhandle Championships with a time of 18:12.58. Although tiny in stature, her coach believes come November she will be on the podium at the state meet.

Warrior of the Week: Miranda, Smith Todd Grasley Oct 18, 2011

Carlos Miranda's training has paid dividends the last two meets. The Palmetto Ridge junior ran sub 16 minutes for the first time this year when he placed third at the flrunners.com Invitational and then followed it up with a new personal best 15:17.71 at the Pre-State Invitational. Kacy Smith showed she is back as a contender. The Estero junior finished third at the Pre-State Invitational in a season best 17:47.21.

Trinity Prep senior Ryan Gousse picked up his first win of the season at the Disney Cross Country Classic in an impressive 15:48.97. Oak Hall sophomore Britney Olinger won the Buchholz Bobcat Classic for the second consecutive year in a season best 18:36.11

Warrior of the Week: Moore, Williams Todd Grasley Oct 04, 2011

Holy Trinity senior Daniel Moore remained unbeaten on the year breaking a course 10 year old course record at Great American set by Alan Webb.  Moore ran a sub fifteen, 14:57 to beat out nationally ranked Jacob Burcham of West Virginia in the final stretch of the race. Chiles senior Lily Williams also remained unbeaten and set a course record of her own. Williams busted out a 17:29 at the Jesse Owens Classic in Alabama to get the win and lead her team to a title as well.

Colonial junior Andres Arroyo continued his junior season with another impressive performance. For the second straight week Arroyo ran stride for stride with Belen Jesuit standout and Foot Locker finalist Elliot Clemente this time at the UF Mt. Dew Invitational finishing second in a season best 15:37.81. Gulf sophomore Kari Grippo proves she can hang with some of the best runners in the state by posting and 18:13.30 at the FSU Seminole Invitational finishing third behind Chiles senior Lily Williams and Holy Trinity freshman Julie Wollrath.

Elliot Clemente of Belen Jesuit tore it up again with a state leading 15:27 at Spanish River. Vanessa Valentine laid down a stellar 19:08 course record at hilly Mt. Dora Bible, perhaps the best performance of any girl so far this season.

Warrior of the Week: Godwin, Ortiz Todd Grasley Sep 13, 2011

Buchholz senior Chris Godwin and Lakewood Ranch junior Olivia Ortiz are this week's Warrior of the Week. Godwin won the Ridgeview Bob Hans Invitational in a season best time of 15:48.77. Ortiz ran a gutsy performance at the 2011 Deja Vu Invitational on a mud soaked course. She finished just three-tenths of a second behind winner Kacy Smith in 18:26.30.

Warrior of the Week: Anguish, Candiano Todd Grasley Sep 06, 2011

Winter Park's Billy Anguish and Evangelical Christian's Sarah Candiano kick off our Warrior of the Week series for the 2011 cross country season. Anguish, a senior, outkicked Hagerty's Peter Licari to win the 31st Mike Gibson Summertime Run in 16:18. Candiano, a freshman, won the John Cay 5k in a very impressive 18:14.
