Andres Arroyo Beats the Rain, Spontaneously Runs 4:04 AT Florida #3 Jason Byrne Mar 20, 2013

With dark skies closing in on Showalter Field in Winter Park, Andres Arroyo of Colonial decided he better run fast if he wanted to get the race in at the rain-shortened Metro Prelims. The Boys 1600 ended up being the last race of the night; Andres ran Florida's third fastest high school 1600 all-time.

It turns out that Leila Mantilla’s run for the Puerto Rico junior national track and field team was more dramatic than originally thought.

Mantilla’s coach at Penfield, the individual in charge of timing during the meet and a USA Track and Field official confirmed that the two-time All-Greater Rochester outdoor track and field team member ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10 minutes, 59.89 seconds Tuesday night. (via Democrat and Chronicle)
